Welcome to the official Wickedness page, created for VWO4 pupils.
This site will be used as a guideline to the Wickedness course. On this site, you will find information considering your task and you can find plenty of information about the materials we will use in class.
This course will centre around one general question:
Are people born wicked or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?
Or in other words, are “bad” people born the way they are, or are they shaped by their environment or upbringing? Moreover, this course will question the way we interpret people and will also criticise the way people are portrayed by others.
We will use three main sources to work with;
- First of all; A simplified version of ‘Frankenstein’ which will be handed to you by your teacher
- Secondly; A recorded version of the Broadway musical ‘Wicked’;
- Thirdly; Three poems from the Romantic Period with the theory of ‘nature vs nurture’ as a main theme
We will use these sources to explore the presence of the ‘nature vs nurture’ theme in those sources.
Please go to ‘Your Task’ to find out what needs to be done in this course.
Good luck to everyone!
